Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA Once Again Donates Ambulance to Support the Wounded Defenders of Ukraine

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA (UOC-USA), in collaboration with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), has made a profound contribution to the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine by donating a medical ambulance vehicle to the 4th Separate Tank Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. This donation embodies the Church’s unwavering commitment to serving those who sacrifice their lives to protect the sovereignty and borders of their ancestral homeland, Ukraine.

The ambulance, procured through the heartfelt donations of the faithful from the UOC-USA, was dedicated and blessed in a solemn ceremony led by His Eminence Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine. Assisting him was the military chaplain of the brigade, His Eminence Metropolitan Clement of Simferopol and Crimea. The blessings and prayers were offered for the brave men and women of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, particularly the soldiers of the 4th Separate Tank Brigade, and their families.

Speaking on behalf of Metropolitan Antony – the Spiritual Father of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, Archbishop Daniel emphasized the Church’s role in demonstrating true love and service. “Love is not merely an emotion or a declaration; love is action and sacrifice. When we serve quietly and with humility, we reflect the commandments of the Lord. This ambulance is more than a vehicle - it is a lifeline for those defending Ukraine's freedom, and a testament to the enduring love and solidarity of our faithful,” Archbishop Daniel remarked.

Prayers were also offered for Metropolitan Clement, who continues his pastoral mission amidst the ongoing occupation of Crimea. Despite the challenges, he remains steadfast in ministering to the spiritual and physical needs of Ukraine’s defenders, exemplifying Christ’s love through his service.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the UOC-USA has tirelessly worked to deliver humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including over 170 medical ambulances and logistical support vehicles. In total, nearly 200 vehicles have been donated, alongside essential supplies, food, and medical equipment to hospitals, frontline defenders, and displaced families. This charitable ministry, supported by the faithful of the UOC-USA, serves as a beacon of hope and a lifeline to countless lives affected by the ongoing war.

The UOC-USA continues to appeal for goodwill donations to sustain its humanitarian outreach. Archbishop Daniel reflected, “Our faith compels us to serve. Each act of kindness, no matter how small, becomes a powerful witness to the Gospel. Together, through love in action, we can bring healing and hope to Ukraine.”
