The Ukrainian Orthodox League (UOL) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA (UOC of the USA) recently convened its 77th Annual Convention in the historic city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This year, the event was graciously hosted by the St. Vladimir UOL Chapter of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral under the spiritual guidance of Very Rev. Fr. Taras Naumenko. The convention was a significant gathering that reflected on crucial aspects of Church life, chapter development, and the social engagement of chapter members in the ministry of the UOC of the USA.
The convention featured a variety of workshops and panel discussions aimed at fostering unity, spiritual growth, and effective ministry within the Church.
Becoming One as God is One
Led by Fr. Anthony Perkins, this workshop focused on building bonds between the diverse members of the Church. Clergy and guests of the cathedral joined in this solemn celebration. During the liturgy, with the blessing of Metropolitan Antony, Archbishop Daniel elevated Deacon Pavlo Vysotskyi to the ecclesiastical rank of Protodeacon in recognition of his years of dedicated service. Hundreds of faithful approached the chalice, reflecting the deep spiritual engagement of the community.
Metropolitan Antony led the induction ceremony of the newly elected Senior and Junior UOL National Executive Boards. The convention concluded with a luncheon in honor of all participants, celebrating the fellowship and achievements of the gathering.
As attendees departed, there was a palpable sense of anticipation and hope for the 78th Annual UOL Convention, scheduled to take place in Florida in 2025.
