On Friday, June 30, 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in Australia, received with great joy His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, Prime Hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA and Diaspora, and Archbishop Daniel, Ruling Hierarch of the Western Eparchy and Consistory President of the UOC of the USA, who offer pastoral care to Ukrainians in the Diaspora.
Arriving at the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia in Sydney, the two hierarchs were warmly greeted by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, and Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Fr. Christophoros Krikelis.
Having visited the Cathedral of The Annunciation of the Birth-Giver of God, in Redfern, Sydney, Metropolitan Antony and Archbishop Daniel met with His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
In fraternal fellowship the hierarchs discussed subjects of common interest, focusing on the suffering people of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian population in the Diaspora, especially those residing in Australia and are under spiritual care of Metropolitan Antony.
During the discussion, the Greek Orthodox hierarchs were in agreement with the Hierarchs of the UOC in Diaspora, in condemning the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation and wishing for a speedy end to the horrific war which has resulted in a humanitarian and ecological disaster.
Assuring the Ukrainian Orthodox hierarchs of his continued prayers for Ukraine, Archbishop Makarios bid farewell to Metropolitan Antony and Archbishop Daniel, who continue with their pastoral visit to the flock of the Ukrainian Orthodox Eparchy of Australia and New Zealand.
