As the war in Ukraine continues to claim human lives, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA undertook yet another life-saving project that brings hope and salvation.
Seven medial emergency vehicles – ambulances – have been ordered and delivered to Ukraine from Germany and Poland to offer basic medical assistance through the cooperation of the UOC of the USA, Orthodox Church of Ukraine and various medical hospitals in Ukraine.
In addition to the medical automotive donations, the Church purchased three medium-load minivans for the purposes of distribution of the most necessary medical and charitable aid in the regions, where heavy trucks are not able to drive due to the mined fields and severe destruction of the highways by the Russian military.
The humanitarian efforts continue to take place in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Dnipro regions of Ukraine, as groups of young volunteers (supported by the donations of the UOC of the USA) purchase and hand deliver thousands of packages bags of food items to the most vulnerable residents and refugees in the areas of concern.
With the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphany and working closely with the Archpastor of Donetsk Eparchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine – His Eminence Archbishop Serhiy, the UOC of the USA sponsored medical and food distribution centers for refugees, who daily come to Dnipro location to receive cooked meals, food items, basic medicine, and diapers for children.
Moreover, Archbishop Daniel continues to support the efforts of the Ukrainian military and refugee camp chaplains. Most recently, various liturgical items were purchased and delivered to various locations in order to provide the medical and military chaplains with the most necessary items towards the fulfillment of their mission – serving the spiritual needs of those entrusted into their spiritual care.
The national Spiritual Center – Metropolia continues to coordinate financial donations and their distributions via various ministries in Ukraine. Having collected over 1.7 million dollars, the UOC of the USA continues to finance logistical medical and food deliveries in various parts of Ukraine. To see more photos scroll down...
