The Exarchs of Ecumenical Throne, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel (UOC of the USA) and His Grace Bishop Ilarion (UOC of Canada) met the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Mr. Evhen Nyschuk

In the capacity of the Exarchs of Ecumenical Throne, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel (UOC of the USA) and His Grace Bishop Ilarion (UOC of Canada) met the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Mr. Evhen Nyschuk. 

During the meeting, the hierarchs discussed practical steps that could be taken towards the achievement of full ecclesiastical unity of various jurisdictions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Moreover, a lengthy conversation took place about the cultural and spiritual contributions that the Holy Orthodox Church made in the process of nurturing the traditions of the greater Ukrainian community throughout the world.

In his welcoming remarks, Minister Nyschuk stated that “…presently, we live in historical times of Ukraine, and as Minister of Culture I will do whatever is possible, in my capacity, to facilitate the steps that will lead to a full unification of the Church… at our Ministry, we are responsible for the proper registration of by-laws and statutes in order to make sure that inter-church life of the nation is properly cared for…”

Responding to the Minister’s welcome remarks, Archbishop Daniel stated that both him and Bishop Ilarion have been appointed by the Holy Synod of the Mother Church of Constantinople to address the so-called “anomaly” of the divided Orthodox Church in Ukraine. Moreover, the hierarch stated that as Exarchs of the Ecumenical Throne they are willing and shall meet with all representatives of various Orthodox communities in Ukraine in order to facilitate the further dialogue that will lead towards unification of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

Виконуючи обов’язки та служіння Екзархів Вселенської Патріархії, Архиєпископ Даниїл (УПЦ США) та єпископ Іларіон (УПЦ Канади) провели зустріч із Міністром культури України Євгеном Нищуком, обговорюючи практичні кроки подолання розподілу Українського Православ`я та підготовки шляху до надання автокефалії Православній Церкві в Україні. Окрім того, сторони обговорили велику історичну спадщину народу України та внесок котрий Свята Православна Церква зробила у духовному та національному розвитку України протягом століть не тільки на батькiвщині, але і в усіх країнах світу де проживають українці.

«Рішенням Священного Синоду нас призначено для того, щоб проводити зустрічі на теренах України, з метою врегулювання «церковної аномалії»», - зазначив Архієпископ Даниїл, - «Ми відкриті до співпраці і, всупереч всім засобам масової інформації, ми приїхали не для того, щоб розділяти когось або створювати проблеми, навпаки – ми хочемо вирішити питання, на які нас благословила церква Константинополя – налагодження стосунків та об’єднання Українських Православних Церков».

Архиєпископ також повідомив, що вони готові зустрітися з представниками УПЦ КП, УАПЦ , УПЦ (МП) та представниками різних конфесій, щоби почути їхню думку з цього питання.

«Ми зараз переживаємо історичний для України момент, тож всіляко будемо сприяти тому, щоб Україна отримала православне об’єднання і, зокрема, Вашій високій Місії бути тут екзархами. Ви можете цілковито розраховувати на нашу співпрацю. Саме наше відомство відповідає за реєстрації, статути і, в цілому, за забезпечення нашого міжконфесійного життя країни, ми забезпечуємо вільний доступ всім», - сказав Міністр культури.
