Archpastoral Visit to Monessen, PA
On Sunday, May 26, the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Monessen, PA was blessed by the Archpastoral visit of His Grace Bishop Daniel, the Ruling Hierarch of the Western Eparchy and President of Consistory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA.
Upon the entrance to the temple, His Grace was welcomed with the traditional bread and salt, by Helen Guzensky, secretary of the church community. Following greetings by Fr. Roman Yatskiv, administrator of St. Nicholas, Bishop Daniel addressed all in His Archpastoral greeting and passed on the blessing of the Primate of the UOC of the USA - Metropolitan Antony. As His Grace served the Divine Liturgy, the church was filled with warmth as the church choir sang the responses, under the direction of cantor - Margie Druash.
At the altar, Bishop Daniel was surrounded by Fr. Roman and two seminarians Ivan Chopko and Volodymyr Yavorskyy. His Grace offered his Archpastoral prayers for all clergy, people, the sick, the suffering, and especially to all of the armed forces who have served, are serving, or those who have given their lives for the freedom of all.
In his sermon, he talked about the importance of assisting and showing love to those in need, to show more kindness, humility, and more compassion, to show what one can accomplish when working for the glory of God.
Following the services, all gathered at a local restaurant, where once again all shared in the love and fellowship with each other and the blessing of His Grace.
This visit of His Grace Bishop Daniel is a blessing that the parishioners of St. Nicholas Parish will cherish and always remember.
