At the conclusion of the service, the Metropolitan thanked the parishioners of St. Andrew’s and especially commented on the beautiful responses rendered by the choir under the direction of Jane Yavarow. He reminded the parish to be ever thankful for their dedication, since unfortunately, many churches no longer have active choirs.
After the Divine Liturgy everyone was invited to the church hall to enjoy a Lenten Luncheon organized by the hard working members of St. Olha’s Sisterhood. Many people labored in the kitchen to prepare a delicious meal in honor of the Metropolitan’s visit.
St. Andrew’s is undergoing an extensive renovation, restoring the dome and painting the interior. It was a little unnerving to have our Hierarch visit us and serve amidst the scaffolding towering up over 60 feet into the dome, but just as the physical needs of the church need to be addressed, it was wonderful to have His Eminence come to help us repair and restore our souls and spirits during Great Lent.
