St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral's Church Summer Camp!
The Annual Church Summer Camp of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia, PA took place on June 25 – 28, 2012.
On the first day of camp the children gathered at the church where we began our day with morning prayers followed by a discussion with Fr. Taras on "Why kids can trust God" which was the theme of this year's camp. Following Religious Education class the children had a trivia game and divided in to 4 teams to count up the icons. They explored the entire Cathedral! The official count - 192 icons!!!. After the trivia game, we held a Liturgical Music class and learned a new song "With Fear and Humility" which kids will be happy to present at Sunday's Liturgy. Also on this day the kids planted flowers, held Little Olympics and enjoyed a story time.
The second day was filled with terrific and unique arts and crafts projects, prepared by Mrs. Ann Kowal, and outdoor games. As always, water balloon toss was a HUGE hit!
Wednesday - was our much anticipated pool party. For this event we would like to thank Gregory and Judith Karbiwnyk for opening their doors to our children and hosting this event complimented by the delicious lunch on the lawn.
On the final day of camp we held the outing to Mason Mill Park in Huntingdon Valley. Beautiful weather, magnificent nature made this day and awesome day!
The entire camp program was truly uplifting and exciting for all campers and volunteers. And it is due to the support of our parents, grandparents and volunteers that is was such a success!
A special thank you is extended to our volunteers: Andrea Swan, Ann Kowal, Dori & Lynn Nemeth, Maria Holubowsky, Chris Peltekis, Fr. Taras and Мatushka Laura Naumenko.
