UOC of the USA Delivers Hospital Beds to Buchach Regional Hospital!
About six months ago, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA shipped a container of hospital beds and furniture as well as computerized medical equipment (just shipment of which totaled in the amount of about $10,000.00), for ten hospital wards of Buchach Regional Hospital of Ternopil district in Ukraine.
During the recent visit to Ukraine, on July 14, 2012, His Grace Bishop Daniel, the Ruling Hierarch of the Western Eparchy of the UOC of the USA, accompanied by Very Rev. Fr. Yuriy and Dobrodijka Lesia Siwko, visited the hospital in order to make a formal presentation of the donated equipment to the hospital administration in the person of the chief medical doctor of Buchach region – Yaroslav Petrovych Andrusenko, MD.
The bishop examined the installation of ten sleeping beds in several wards of the hospital and met the administration of the medical institution and discussed the ways of a possible future cooperation between the Church and the hospital. In his remarks, the bishop reflected upon the sacred ministry of the Church, caring for the needs of the sick and infirm. Meeting the nursing staff and doctors, Bishop Daniel recalled his childhood days spent in Buchach, Ukraine, as he remembered the walls of the same building, in which he would visit his friends and family members, who were hospitalized at that time.
