NY/NJ Deanery: March 3rd, 2012 - Lenten Retreat!
During the fall of 2011, a pan-orthodox educational opportunity occurred for central New Jersey’s Orthodox Christians. St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Carteret successfully presented a 10-week course entitled “The WAY - An Introductory Course in Orthodox Christianity”.
In response to our participant’s requests for additional learning opportunities in Orthodoxy, it is with great joy that we invite you to gather on Saturday, March 3 to take part in the NY/NJ Deanery's first annual Lenten Retreat, to examine, learn, pray, meet and to be inspired.
The program begins with registration and continental breakfast at 9:30am at the St. Demetrius Community Center located a short distance from our Cathedral. Following breakfast, the retreat will feature two video presentations featuring two internationally known Orthodox scholars from the Institute of Orthodox Christian Studies of Cambridge, England.
Session One will feature Metropolitan Kallistos Ware presenting “Salvation in Christ” and after lunch, Session Two will feature Father Michael Harper presenting “The Holy Spirit”. After each session, a group discussion and an open forum for Q&A with an expert clergy panel will be held. The retreat program concludes with Vespers at 4:30pm.
The retreat course fee is $20 which includes all refreshments and course materials. Registration is required as places are limited.
Please come and bring someone along to share this special day with us. We hope that the retreat will not only prove to be a spiritually enriching experience for you and your parishioners, but that you will leave with new friends and the strength to continue on your Lenten journey to Pascha.
Those interested in the course can download the registration form from the St. Demetrius Cathedral website (www.stdemetriusuoc.org) or call 732-541-1530 to request a copy. Please email me at – email@example.com – if you should have any questions.
