In the joyful and bright light of the Paschal season - when the victory of life over death illumines not only the Church’s liturgical life but also the very ethos of her ministry - the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America once again offered a profound testimony to the living reality of the Gospel through acts of sacrificial love and charitable stewardship. At the sacred grounds of the Spiritual Center in South Bound Brook, New Jersey - where prayer ascends unceasingly before God and the memory of generations is sanctified - two deeply moving presentations of charitable offerings became a visible manifestation of the Church as the Body of Christ, “bearing one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2).

Gathered in the presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, Prime Hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, and His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, faithful clergy, seminarians, and laity witnessed an offering not merely of financial resources, but of hearts transformed by faith.

With humility and grace, members of the Sisterhood of Saint Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Silver Spring, Maryland, approached the hierarchs to present a generous donation of $10,000 in support of the charitable ministries of the Saint Andrew’s Society of the UOC of the USA. Their offering - born not of abundance alone, but of years of steadfast labor, prayer, and dedication - was received with profound gratitude.

Representing the Saint Andrew’s Society, its Treasurer, Rev. Fr. Ivan Tchopko, accepted the donation on behalf of the Church’s philanthropic arm, offering heartfelt words of appreciation and underscoring the sacred responsibility entrusted to the Society: to serve Christ by serving the least among His brethren.

In his archpastoral reflection, Metropolitan Antony offered words of moving expressions of gratitude: “Beloved sisters in Christ, your offering today is not measured in currency, but in compassion; not in numbers, but in love. In the sacred tradition of the Holy Orthodox Church, charity - diakonia - is not an optional virtue but a manifestation of our very participation in the life of Christ. Through your faithful labors, through your gatherings, your prayers, your sacrifices - often unseen by the world - you reveal the quiet yet powerful presence of the Holy Spirit at work among us.

You remind us that the Church is not merely a place where we worship, but a living organism through which the mercy of God flows into a wounded world. May the Lord, Who sees in secret, reward you openly, and may your example inspire generations of faithful women and men to embrace the ministry of love.”

Indeed, the Sisterhood - often working behind the scenes - embodies the ancient and enduring tradition of Orthodox Christian stewardship, the Myrrh-Bearing Women, whose devotion, courage, and fidelity transformed sorrow into proclamation. Their service continues to sustain the life of the Church in ways both visible and hidden, echoing the words of Saint John Chrysostom: “If you cannot find Christ in the beggar at the church door, you will not find Him in the Chalice.”

Moreover, Mrs. Halyna Lisnyczyj and Mr. Victor Lisnyzhyj, having traveled from Florida to the Spiritual Center, presented a heartfelt donation in support of the Church-sponsored orphanage programs in Ukraine - ministries that care for the most vulnerable: children deprived of stability, safety, and parental care.

What made this offering particularly remarkable is the spirit in which it was cultivated. Mrs. Halyna Lisnyczyj, an author inspired by both faith and compassion, developed and published a cookbook with the loving support of her husband, children, and extended family. Rather than seeking personal gain, she dedicated the proceeds of this work to a higher purpose: inviting others to contribute through the simple act of sharing a meal, thereby transforming everyday life into an offering of love.

Through this initiative - and with the latest donation presented at the Spiritual Center - the Lisnyczyj family has now raised $45,000 in support of orphanage ministries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA.

Receiving the offering, Archbishop Daniel expressed profound appreciation, reflecting on the spiritual depth of their sacrifice: “In a world often marked by indifference and division, your family has chosen the path of self-offering - of kenosis - which lies at the very heart of the Gospel. Dear Helena and Victor, together with your children and grandchildren, you have shown us that charity is not an isolated act, but a way of life - a sacred rhythm of giving, loving, and serving.

Your labor is not merely humanitarian; it is profoundly Eucharistic. For in giving of yourselves, you unite your lives to the offering of Christ Himself. The children you support - though perhaps unknown to you by name - are known to God, and through your love, they experience His providence. This is the Church in action. This is the Gospel lived.”

Present at this sacred moment was their daughter Tatiana, along with their son Gregory and their families, all of whom actively support the publication and distribution of the cookbook. Their collective effort stands as a testimony to the power of the domestic church - the family - as a source of light and transformation in the world.

These sacred offerings - presented not for recognition, but for service - remind us that the life of the Church extends far beyond the walls of the temple. It is lived wherever love overcomes fear, wherever sacrifice replaces self-interest, and wherever Christ is encountered in the face of the suffering.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA offers profound gratitude to the Sisterhood of Saint Andrew Cathedral in Silver Spring, Maryland, and to Halyna and Victor Lisnyczyj and their family, for their unwavering commitment to the Gospel of love.

У радісному і світлому сяйві пасхального періоду - коли перемога життя над смертю просвітлює не лише літургійне життя Церкви, але й сам дух її служіння - вірні Української Православної Церкви Сполучених Штатів Америки знову засвідчили глибоку правду Євангелія через діла жертовної любові та благодійності. На священних теренах Духовного Осередку в Саут-Баунд-Бруку, штат Нью-Джерсі - де молитва безперестанно возноситься до Бога і освячується пам’ять поколінь - два зворушливі вручення благодійних пожертв стали видимим виявом Церкви як Тіла Христового, що «носить тягарі один одного» (Гал. 6:2).

У присутності Його Високопреосвященства Митрополита Антонія, Предстоятеля Української Православної Церкви США, та Архієпископа Даниїла, духовенство, семінаристи та вірні стали свідками не просто матеріальної жертви, але дару сердець, преображених вірою.

Зі смиренням і благоговінням члени Сестринства Свято-Андріївського Українського Православного кафедрального собору в Сілвер-Спрінг, штат Меріленд, підійшли до ієрархів, щоб передати щедру пожертву у розмірі 10,000 доларів США на підтримку благодійної діяльності Товариства Святого Андрія УПЦ США. Їхній дар - народжений не лише з достатку, але з років невтомної праці, молитви і посвяти - був прийнятий із глибокою вдячністю.

Від імені Товариства Святого Андрія пожертву прийняв його скарбник, отець Іван Чопко, висловивши щиру подяку та підкресливши святу відповідальність, покладену на Товариство: служити Христові, служачи найменшим із Його братів.

У своєму архіпастирському слові Митрополит Антоній висловив глибоку вдячність: «Дорогі сестри у Христі, ваша сьогоднішня жертва вимірюється не грошима, а співчуттям; не цифрами, а любов’ю. У священній традиції Святої Православної Церкви милосердя - діаконія - є не додатковою чеснотою, але виявом нашої участі в самому житті Христа. Через вашу вірну працю, через ваші зібрання, молитви і жертви - часто невидимі для світу - ви відкриваєте тиху, але могутню присутність Святого Духа серед нас.

Ви нагадуєте нам, що Церква - це не лише місце молитви, але живий організм, через який милість Божа вливається у поранений світ. Нехай Господь, Який бачить таємне, воздасть вам явно, і нехай ваш приклад надихає покоління вірних до служіння любові».

Справді, Сестринство - часто залишаючись поза увагою - втілює давню традицію жінок-мироносиць, чия відданість, мужність і вірність перемінили скорботу на благовістя. Їхнє служіння підтримує життя Церкви як видимо, так і невидимо, відлунюючи слова святителя Іоана Золотоустого: «Якщо ти не знаходиш Христа в жебракові біля церковних дверей, то не знайдеш Його і в Чаші».

Окрім цього, пані Галина Ліснича та пан Віктор Лісничий, прибувши з Флориди до Духовного Осередку, передали щиру пожертву на підтримку церковних сиротинців в Україні - служіння, яке опікується найуразливішими: дітьми, позбавленими стабільності, безпеки та батьківської опіки.

Особливо зворушливим є сам спосіб, у який була зібрана ця пожертва. Пані Галина Ліснича, натхненна вірою та співчуттям, створила кулінарну книгу за підтримки свого чоловіка, дітей і родини. Відмовившись від особистої вигоди, вона присвятила прибуток від цієї праці благородній меті - запрошуючи інших долучитися через простий акт спільної трапези, перетворюючи повсякденність на жертву любові.

Завдяки цій ініціативі - разом із останньою пожертвою - родина Лісничих уже зібрала 45,000 доларів США на підтримку сиротинців УПЦ США.

Приймаючи цей дар, Архієпископ Даниїл висловив глибоку вдячність: «У світі, який часто позначений байдужістю та розділенням, ваша родина обрала шлях самопожертви - що є серцем Євангелія. Дорогі Галино і Вікторе, разом із вашими дітьми і внуками, ви показали, що милосердя - це не окремий вчинок, але спосіб життя - священний ритм дарування, любові та служіння.

Ваша праця є не лише гуманітарною - вона є глибоко євхаристійною. Бо віддаючи себе, ви єднаєте своє життя з жертвою Самого Христа. Діти, яким ви допомагаєте - навіть якщо ви не знаєте їхніх імен - знані Богові, і через вашу любов вони досвідчують Його промисел. Це - Церква в дії. Це - живе Євангеліє».

Під час цієї події були присутні їхня донька Тетяна, а також і син Григорій та їхні родини, які активно підтримують видання та поширення кулінарної книги. Їхня спільна праця є свідченням сили «малої Церкви» - родини - як джерела світла і преображення у світі.

Ці святі дари - принесені не задля визнання, але задля служіння - нагадують нам, що життя Церкви виходить далеко за межі храму. Воно живе там, де любов перемагає страх, де жертва замінює самолюбство, і де Христос зустрічається в обличчі стражденного.

Українська Православна Церква США висловлює щиру вдячність Сестринству Свято-Андріївського собору в Сілвер-Спрінг, Меріленд, а також Галині та Віктору Лісничим і їхній родині за їхню непохитну вірність Євангелію любові.

Їхній приклад закликає кожного з нас - духовенство і мирян - замислитися над власним покликанням до служіння. Бо, як говорить Сам Господь: «Оскільки ви зробили це одному з найменших братів Моїх - Мені зробили» (Мф. 25:40).

Нехай їхнє свідчення надихає інших жертвувати - не лише зі своїх статків, але й зі своїх сердець. І нехай Воскреслий Христос, Який переміг смерть і відкрив нам ворота вічного життя, благословить усіх, хто трудиться в Його ім’я задля зцілення світу.
