Diocesan Relief Programs
and Supported Charities
The Consistory Office of Christian Charity (OCC) has been established to initiate, promote and develop:
- charitable ministry within the parish church and local community
- charitable outreach throughout the world.
Outreach: The O.M.C.C. promotes the charitable outreach ministry to the elderly, sick, dying, lonely, shut-ins, unwed mothers, teens in need, disenfranchised within the parish and our neighborhoods. The Office has available proposals and suggestions for developing programs for and by the seniors of a parish community. This proposal has been provided to each parish and pastor of the UOC of the USA for implementation.
Liaison: The Office coordinates charitable outreach wherever need exists and resources are available. Through the work of Saint Andrew’s Society, the United Sisterhoods and the Ukrainian Orthodox League, aid has been given to the needy, orphanages , schools and institutions in Ukraine. Recently, the Church has substantially contributed in support of two orphanages in Zaluche, IvanoFrankivsk and Znamianka, Kirivohrad. Children of Chornobyl Relief Foundation has facilitated this outreach.
Support: Through the Orthodox Christian Mission Center of St. Augustine, Florida, our Church has supported the establishment of the Ukrainian Orthodox Seminary in Curitiba, Brazil and sent a Mission Team to visit and help the Faithful in South America.
