His Eminence Archbishop Daniel Recently Visited Two Ukrainian Orthodox Communities in Paris, France

Holy Apostle Andrew, the First-Called Ukrainian Orthodox parish is located in the small town of Vesines-Chalette-Sur Loing of the suburban Metropolian area of the French capital. During his most recent visit to France, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel led a Memorial Service at the Memorial of Ukrainian-French heroes and leaders of the Ukrainian National Army at the local French-Ukrainian cemetery.

Following the prayer service, Vladyka visited with the Ukrainian Orthodox flock, which is pastorally cared for by Rev. Fr. Ivan Radevych. I his short remarks, His Eminence recalled the great contribution of the ancestors in their struggle to establish themselves in the pre and post World War I and II France. Moreover, Vladyka called upon the community to be active and engaging in their parochial activities: “… While in the past, the parishes were built and communities fostered, the new generation of Ukrainian-French faithful must accept the Torch of Living Faith in order to continue the legacy of our forefathers, fulfilling the Commandment of Christ the Savior – to proclaim the Word of God throughout the world.”

On Sunday, June 24, 2018 – another Ukrainian Orthodox community of St. Symon Zylot (Paris, France) welcomed the archpastor in the their midst. The youth of the parish presented His Eminence with the flowers and a wreath of Ukrainian poetry, while members of the parish’s board of administration welcomed Vladyka with the traditional bread and salt. In his sermon, the archpastor reflected upon the practical aspects of our Living Faith and the need for total surrender to our Lord’s presence in our daily activities.

The liturgy concluded with the numerous parishioners receiving the Most Holy Eucharist. At the end of the service, the children of the parochial Ukrainian School of Language, Religion and Art treated the community to a small presentation of Ukrainian poetry and religious songs.

While partaking in the formal banquet, Vladyka led Q&A session with their faithful, addressing various social and moral issues of the society, proving guidance to the parish and clergy about their responsibilities in fulfilling the mandate of pastoral care of numerous Ukrainian immigrants that have moved to France from Ukraine.

The archapstoral visit of His Eminence Archbishop Daniel concluded on June 25, 2018 with the invitation extended to the Ukrainian-French community to visit the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA for the celebration of the Centennial of Ukrainian Orthodox Communities on the North-American Continent.
