On Saturday April 13th, the clergy of the UOC-USA New England Deanery offered a "traveling mission" to the faithful of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. The turnout, support, and participation in this mission was inspiring.
They began the day with Holy Confession and a Memorial Liturgy at St. Mary's parish in New Britain, CT. This was the first time in several years that all the priests of the deanery had gathered together around the altar and it was a real blessing for everyone. The parish shared a wonderful lenten lunch after the service. The next stop was at St. Michael's parish in Woonsocket, RI to offer Holy Confession and the Service of Holy Unction. This service is meant to be served by several priests and it was great to be able to do just that. Several parishioners remarked on how beautiful the service was (as well as on the strength and majesty of Dn. Tony's voice!). After a bit to eat, complete with lots of great conversation, the clergy made their way up to St. Andrew's parish in Boston for Holy Confession and Great Vespers. Not only was there a good turnout for the service, the parishioners offered a wonderful lenten meal afterwards. It was a long day, full of love, camaraderie, and God's mercy!
Participating clergy included: Rev. Steven Masliuk (Dean, St. Mary's in Bridgeport, CT), V. Rev. Roman Tarnavsky (St. Andrew's in Boston, MA), V. Rev. Andriy Pokotylo (St. Mary's in New Britain, CT), Rev. Rostyslav Tsapar (St. Mary's in New Haven, CT), Rev. Anthony Perkins (St. Michael's in Woonsocket, RI), Hierodeacon Vasyl (St. Andrew's in Boston, MA), Rev. Dn. Anthony Szwez (St. Mary's in New Britain, CT), Subdeacon Paul Cherkas (St. Michael's in Woonsocket, RI), Subdeacon Joshua Bourgery (St. MIchael's in Woonsocket, RI), Subdeacon Michael Abrahamson (St. Michael's in Woonsocket, RI), Subdeacon Kenneth Kulmatycki (St. Andrew's in Boston, MA), Reader Nicholas Perkins (St. Michael's in Woonsocket, RI), and the servers Christopher Pokotylo (St. Mary's in New Britain) and Adam Teper (St. Michael's in Woonsocket).
