PRESS RELEASE

Subdeacon Borislav Kroner Ordained to Deaconate!

On September 13, 2009, the feast of the Placing of the Cincture of the Most Holy Birth-Giver of God, His Eminence Archbishop Antony visited St. Andrew the First-Called Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Boston MA.  During hierarchical liturgy His Eminence ordained a third year seminarian and St. Stephen's Deacon’s course graduate Subdeacon Borislav Kroner to the Holy Deaconate.

Fr. Deacon Borislav was born in Zhytomyr, Ukraine in 1976.  Just before the fall of the iron curtain and the collapse of the Soviet Union his family immigrated to USA.  In 2006 Fr. Deacon Borislav, his wife Izabela and daughter Anna became parishioners of St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Boston where he served in the altar under the guidance of his spiritual father and pastor Mitered Protopriest Roman Tarnavsky.

Later that year, having received the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Antony, Fr. Dn. Borislav entered the St. Stephen's Course in Orthodox Theology.  St. Stephen’s Course of Studies is a three-year correspondence program designed for those who wish to study Orthodox theology but who are unable to attend an Orthodox seminary on a full time basis.  The program involved extensive reading courses in Scripture, doctrine, history, liturgy, and practical theology, plus attendance at the Residency Program, three consecutive years, one week each year.  Upon the recommendation of the Church's Vocations Director V. Rev. Fr. Stephen Hutnik, Fr. Dn. Borislav received a blessing to enter St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary.  He has received his diploma from St. Stephen's on September 4, 2009 and continues his 3rd and final year at St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary.

May God bless Fr. Dn. Borislav for responding to His call to serve our Lord in His Holy Vineyard - our Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA.  May God bless our newest deacon and his family with health, happiness, and wisdom for many years!
